Sustainable Architecture: The New Normal
With all the things happening in the world right now; climate change, pandemics, and depletion of natural resources, industries all over the world are taking a stand to create a brighter and sustainable future for the incoming generations.
In our recent webinar with Architect Daryl Balmoria- Garcia, the principal architect of Dream Architects, she said, “traditional designs can be compared to boxes of concrete with no green space allocations .” Most of the time good profit is in mind. Sustainable architecture, however, is designed for value for money and for quality of life.
Here are the advantages of sustainable architecture;
- Sustainable architecture has lots of benefits for the owner, such as being able to help the environment by using eco-friendly materials such as wood or organic paints.
- Sustainable architecture is also more cost-efficient because it incorporates nature in its design such as the use of big windows, recyclable water systems, and bigger spaces where wind can easily pass through. Furthermore, through sustainable architecture, quality of life is nurtured because the building itself is multifunctional. You have a home office, your own gym, your own home garden and most especially, a place for your family.
We are entering the new normal. With a snap of a finger, our old normal is history. Moving forward, we will be spending more time in our own homes. Our parties become virtual. We will have distant learning for our children. Work-from-home is the new normal. Mall, movie theaters, and concerts might be history. And instead of going out, we’ll have our home theaters, web concerts and online shopping. Where it used to be optional, but now a must.
This is where sustainable architecture plays a very big impact. We are locked in our homes and suddenly we all became homebodies. Dream Architects are redesigning homes that are multifunctional, in a way that people can live the new normal life. These quarantine friendly homes are well planned to include a gym, a home entertainment area, guest rooms, board rooms, an urban garden, home office, and, etc.
New projects that we’re recently announced and will soon launch have made changes to their designs and are now incorporating sustainable living in their home designs. During one of the late-night leaders meeting of Filipino Homes, Weecom announced the adjustments they have made in the designs of their upcoming project in Cagayan de Oro City, Intalio Estates.
