Filipinohomes Palawan joined the 34th Pista ’y ang Cagueban tree‑planting festival, helping restore forests and reinforcing Puerto Princesa’s carbon‑negative leadership.
PALAWAN – Filipinohomes Palawan swapped property listings for seedlings on June 27, 2026, joining the 34th Pista ’y ang Cagueban. The annual “Feast of the Forest” brought the real estate network’s team together with thousands of volunteers to restore a 10‑hectare site in Barangay Montible, reinforcing the province’s carbon‑negative status.
A Real Estate Team Plants Deeper Roots
The Palawan office of Filipinohomes, under its Filipinohomes Cares banner, arrived with shovels and a shared purpose. They planted native tree species side‑by‑side with government workers, students, and civic groups. Their presence turned a corporate responsibility commitment into hands‑on action, strengthening the community they serve.
For a network that helps families find homes, nurturing the land where those homes stand is a natural extension. The team’s participation demonstrated that responsible property development must go hand in hand with environmental stewardship. Their sweat equity added to a three‑decade legacy of reforestation that has reshaped the city’s landscape.
Since its launch in 1991, Pista ’y ang Cagueban has mobilized generations of Palaweños to plant over 2.6 million trees across 369 hectares. The City Environment and Natural Resources Office reports a seedling survival rate of 70 to 80 percent, a testament to careful species selection and dedicated aftercare. In 2024 alone, volunteers planted 10,849 seedlings, achieving an 87‑percent survival rate.
The festival’s success has transformed Puerto Princesa’s forest cover from 40 percent to 70 percent, earning it the title “City in a Forest.” Once merely carbon‑neutral, the city now absorbs more carbon than it emits. This green canopy also protects vital watersheds that supply water to households and businesses, benefiting both residents and the real estate market.

This year’s theme, “Tayo ang Kalikasan: Nagkakaisang Tugon sa Krisis ng Mundo,” directly addressed the United Nations’ Triple Planetary Crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Volunteers planted Narra, Balayong, Agoho, and other native trees chosen for their ability to rehabilitate degraded land and sustain local ecosystems. Every sapling placed in the earth was a local answer to a global challenge.
The Bureau of Corrections manages the planting site in Barangay Montible, reflecting the diverse partnerships that make the event possible. Government agencies, private companies, and ordinary citizens worked shoulder to shoulder, erasing boundaries in pursuit of a common goal. The festival proves that environmental protection thrives when communities unite.
Filipinohomes’ participation highlighted the growing role of the private sector in safeguarding natural resources. The network’s corporate social responsibility program channels resources directly into local initiatives like Pista ’y ang Cagueban. Their involvement signals to clients and partners that sustainability is a core value, not a marketing afterthought.
A representative from the Palawan team called the tree‑planting a way to give back to the community they call home. The sentiment echoed across the field as private sector volunteers stood alongside barangay officials and student groups. For Filipinohomes, building communities means more than constructing houses; it means protecting the environment where those communities grow.
The 34th edition of the Feast of the Forest added another chapter to Puerto Princesa’s reforestation story. For Filipinohomes Palawan, the day was a reaffirmation of the belief that progress and preservation must advance together. As the city continues to expand its forest cover, it offers an irresistible template for eco‑conscious development.
