10 Social Media Post Ideas for Real Estate Agents

Nowadays, if your business is not on social media, it may as well not exist.  If you are not using social media to market your real estate services, you’re missing out on the opportunity to connect with your clients (and future clients) on an intimate level. A solid digital presence is an opportunity to stay in touch with your client base and get repeat business and referrals.

The main purpose of social media marketing is for people to get to know, like, and trust YOU. In case you’re at a loss at what type of content should you share as a real estate professional, here are some ideas to help you out:

1. New Listing

Make sure you update your social media with new listings. You’ll never know who are on the lookout for new homes.

Share a few key details about the house: How many bedrooms? What does the interior and exterior look like? What are the other features and amenities? And don’t forget to add your contact details.

2. Just Sold

This is a common real estate social media post, and to be honest, it may be tricky to not cross the line towards bragging. BUT, these posts can work if you share a relatable story about the sale.

Instead of posting:

Just sold this home for my wonderful client! Thank you for the trust. We worked so hard to get this done and can’t wait to help you next. Just call us at xxxx-xxx-xxxx!

Share a relatable story:

  • If you can, include nice photos of the property.
  • Share a story other potential clients can relate to (for example, if client is an OFW purchasing a property for investment).
  • Make it personal.

3. Helpful News or Information

While your ultimate goal is for your social media platforms is to get people to know, like, and trust YOU, you should not post all about YOU all the time. Offer value to your followers. Be your clients’ go-to resource for helpful news and information. This could be local information, or it might be tidbits of info about buying or selling.

  • Stay away from polarizing topics (like politics and religion)
  • Be a very careful curator and only share verified information on things that people will be actually interested in reading.
  • If you’re linking to a source, make sure it is reputable and give credit.

5. Learning Sessions and Industry Events

Learning never stops. You can update your followers and potential clients of your activities in your real estate career. When you post updates about your personal milestones as you advance in your profession, you are also showing that you are striving to be better and that people can trust that you know what you are doing.

Sharing your speaking engagements help establish your personal brand as an industry expert as well.

6. Lifestyle and Community-Based Content

Part of being a real estate professional is being a go-to person for resources about the local scene. This establishes you as a local expert.

Share aspects of living in an area — upcoming local developments, places to visit, restaurants worth trying, or even COVID-related local updates. As people planning on moving to a new area research the place on Instagram, it will work to your advantage if you have geo-tags and hashtags on your photos.

6. Design Ideas, Household Tips, and DIY Projects

You can also share some design ideas, household tips and Do-It-Yourself (DIY) project ideas for beginners. These are helpful topics that can help boost viewer engagement.

7. Housing Market Info

Show people that you know your stuff and are well-informed about what’s happening in your local real estate market. This helps build your expertise.

  • Use simple terms. Avoid using industry jargon.
  • Be brief and concise.
  • Provide a link to the original source.

8. Personal Post

Every once in a while, people would love to see posts from your personal life. Let people know the real you. Don’t be afraid to show snippets of your life outside real estate. This lets people know there is a real person behind the real estate posts.

9. Your Own Home

Talk about your experience of buying (or selling) your own home. You can also share the process from purchase, to turnover, to furnishing, and moving into your new home. This will help you empathize better to what your clients are going through when they buy or sell their homes as well.

10. Real-Life Work

It’s always interesting to see what people actually do at work. As a busy realtor, you do a lot of things for your clients. Show people what you’re doing — from your current work space, to virtual or actual open house, to office visits, etc. It helps your clients understand your scope of work better.
